The Jewish Community of Louisville (Trager Family JCC) is a human service agency committed to enhancing the quality of family life and promoting the physical, intellectual and spiritual wellness of the individual. It provides health-related activities, cultural and educational programs that serve the community at large, including populations at risk. Membership and services are offered to the entire community. The JCC offers the following services: Health & Wellness; Senior Adult & Nutrition; Early Childhood, Youth & Camping; and Jewish Cultural & Performing Arts.


This position manages the Concession Pool Diner.  Responsibilities include but are not limited to ordering and stocking supplies, supervising the Concession staff, scheduling of staff, food preparation, handling cash, making sure Kosher rules are followed, and keeping a clean, safe working environment.  

 Responsibilities:

  • Keep an inventory of items and order and stock food as needed.
  • Work with ice cream and soda vendors.
  • Make a weekly work schedule for employees.
  • Prior to opening, make sure all the ingredients and raw materials are in stock and prepped.
  • Preopening work with grills and fryers.
  • Count and total cash drawer at beginning and end of shift, making sure the bank balances and there is adequate change.
  • Take food and beverage orders from the customers. Record and process the orders in our computerized POS system, collect payment and deposit cash.
  • Prepare and serve food and beverages orders.
  • Keep a clean working environment. Let lifeguards know if outside trash needs attention.
  • Clean dishes, counters, and floor space throughout shift as necessary. Ensure the concession area is cleaned before leaving.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Work Conditions

Will work Concession (air-conditioned with window to customers outdoors) which serves the JCC outdoor pool area.

Qualifications: 

  • High School Diploma/GED is required.
  • A current Food Manager Certificate is required. The JCC will offer this if needed.  
  • Excellent organizational, time management and decision-making skills are required.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively with both JCC employees and members.
  • Excellent customer service skills with a calm and composed nature to address customer needs. Being able to handle difficult situations is a must.
  • Good housekeeping skills.
  • Basic mathematical skills to accurately process bills and order payments.
  • Experience and ability to ensure high quality food production and presentation is required.
  • Must have knowledge of the general use and care of kitchen equipment, including but not limited to grill, deep fryer, and soda fountain.
  • Must have basic Microsoft Office Suite knowledge (Word, Excel, Outlook) and demonstrated ability to learn and use inventory and billing/cash register software.
  • Must have the ability to stand for prolonged periods; to lift, bend, stretch, reach, stoop, push, pull and frequently lift up to 35 pounds; and to walk to other areas on campus. Visual and auditory acuity necessary to perform the job is required.

Job runs May through early September.

Hours vary from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and Sunday.  No Saturday work.

$18 per hour
